Ever Feel Like This?

This past weekend was the dog wash at the hospital, put on by the volunteers who bring their own dogs in to visit the kids. This is an annual event, and Steve and I took Luna and Killer. Luna has gone every year that I have worked at the hospital, so she is used to it. This was Killer's first time, and as you can tell by the expression on his little face - he was less than impressed!

In other news, it looks like I will be moving again soon. Yes, I know. I just moved into this townhouse in January. But for several reasons, it looks like it makes more sense to make another move. I hate moving! Lucky for me, I never really fully unpacked from the last move, so packing won't be the total nightmare it has been in the past. Also, since my divorce, I have gotten rid of tons of stuff. It's so freeing to live as a minimalist! Of course, I am now starting to collect lots of baby stuff from generous friends, family members, and online acquaintences, so the concept of moving "Lia's Room" is becoming more of a reality. She doesn't own any furniture yet, but there are several boxes of clothes, books, and other baby items already dedicated to her. More on the move to come...

Our Brush with Celebrity Greatness...

On Friday night, Steve and I saw Bob Saget (yes, the one and only "Danny Tanner" from Full House) - perform his stand-up routine at the Paramount Theater in Denver. Thanks to Steve's radio connections we were able to go backstage after the show and meet Bob.

For those who haven't seen Bob's stand-up show - this is NOT the man you saw as Danny Tanner (or the host of America's Funniest Home Videos!) His comedy is very raw, uncensored, and a little bit sick (but hilarious). It's definitely not a show for the meek, mild-mannered, or faint of heart!

Anyway, I was never a fan of "Full House" or "AFV" and after the shocking stand-up routine, I wasn't sure what to expect from Bob in person, I was really hoping he wouldn't be some sort of sarcastic, egomaniac... so I was pleasantly relieved to meet a very polite, kind, humble man. He sincerely thanked us several times for coming to the show and was more than happy to have a photo taken with us. What a cool guy!

Simply Awesome

Back today from our WONDERFUL vacation up in the mountains. We stayed in what I am pretty sure is the cutest log cabin ever built. It was nestled up in the pine trees and along an amazing stream. There is nothing better than falling asleep and waking up to nothing but the sound of the stream and the birds! I seriously believe it was THE most relaxing vacation I have ever taken. No schedules to meet, no rules to obey. Just taking nature walks, reading, eating great food, building fires in the wood stove and watching movies in the evenings - yes, there was a DVD player in the cabin. (by the way, if you haven't seen the movie "Freedom Writers" - I highly recommend it).

Luna and Killer totally loved the outdoors and would've been a lot more adventurous if we had allowed them to be. We took them on some walks (on leashes) but for the most part kept them close to us on the deck. I'm sure it wouldn't take a very large animal to walk off with 8 lb. Killer as it's dinner! I will post some addt'l photos of them checking out the area after I get them downloaded. We took tons of photos, but I'm not up for posting them all right now.

Tomorrow it's back to work for me. Somehow it's a lot easier to face the office after five days of decompression - and knowing there is only two days left until the weekend again. Why can't every work week be only two days? LOL.

I realized tonight when I logged in that Sunday was my two month "LID-versary". Another month down - and one month closer to Lia!

P.S. - for those wondering - my review at work went GREAT! Good feedback and a little bump in pay - thanks for all the well wishes...

To My Fellow Bloggers (and lurkers)...

My friend (and college roommate) from Seattle - Angela, is trying to win tickets for her 8 yr old son to see Faith Hill & Tim McGraw when they come to Seattle. She entered a contest with a local radio station and now needs people to vote for them before June 11! I think it is so cute that she is trying to do this for her son. Angela is a teacher and there's no way they could afford the $95 tickets to go otherwise. Here is what she sent me...can you help by voting for them too?

Dear Family & Friends,

I have a funny (and quick) favor to ask you! For being only 8 years old, my son Mason is a MAJOR Faith Hill fan (Tim McGraw too). I entered the two of us in a "Soul Mate" contest to win tickets to their upcoming concert. I could only write something with 50 words or less, so I couldn't say much. If you would take a second to vote for us, we would really appreciate it!!!

Our picture is right in the middle of all of them - jpg. #63 (the only photo I could locate at that moment)!

The cheapest tickets were $95 each, so I thought I'd give this a try. Mason will just flip out if he gets to see her!

Thanks so much!!

Angela

Cute as a bug...

Cute as a bug - INDEED!!! Thank you Laurie for this super cute bib. I love it! I guess I need to get crackin on bib shopping for our June exchange. Laurie was totally on the ball - I received this bib in my mailbox on June 2!

I also received several new squishes over the weekend for Lia's quilt.

I woke up this morning to NO POWER at my house - bummer...so without a hair dryer or curling iron, I chose not to wash my hair, which made me feel gross all day - Blah. Not sure WHY the power was out. It was back on when I got home from work this evening.

I didn't want to open my fridge this morning, because I didn't want to let the cold air out, so I decided to stop for a bagel on my way into work. I ordered a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. I was all excited to settle into my desk and munch on my bagel...when I opened the bag and saw (much to my despair!) a cranberry bagel with (GASP!) sun-dried tomato spread - EEEEEEWWW! WHO WOULD ORDER THAT? So I decided to throw it out, and starve all morning. Luckily one of my colleagues brought in some Mike & Ikes to snack on...so I was running on caffiene & sugar until lunch.

I have my annual review at work on Friday. Fingers crossed for a raise. I work at a non-profit, so it's never a large raise - but every little bit helps. Then on Saturday Steve and I head up into the mountains for our little 5-day vacation - looking forward to that! :)
