Only eight days until we leave for China. The carseat has been installed in our SUV, and our little dogs are now befuddled as to how they will jump back and forth between the front and back seats as they are so used to doing... As the dogs are about to find out...there is a WHOLE NEW WORLD coming at the end of this month! Our fur-babies, Luna and Killer have been our focus for the past four years. Luna is our 7-yr -old "not-so-miniature" Schnauzer, and Killer is our 12-yr old-Yorkie. We keep telling them they have a "sister" coming, but they just stare at us and expect a treat. Go figure.
My mom is coming to stay at our house and watch the dogs while we are in China. Hopefully she will be able to relax and enjoy the warmer weather (as well as our A/C) on this side of the state. I know she is also planning to work on Lia's 100 Good Wishes Quilt during that time. While it will be hard to leave our four-legged friends behind for 17 days, I am happy that we don't have to leave them at a kennel or with a petsitter. They know my mom and will be much happier staying in their own home and their regular routine...that is, until Lil Miss shows up and starts giving them a run for their money!
In other interesting news, last night we were out on our back patio enjoying the cool evening breeze, when I noticed up in a tree about 20 ft high - a BIG hornet's nest - about the size of a football - eeeeeek! So one more thing we are trying to accomplish before we leave is to get someone out to remove that from our yard. Never a dull moment... :)

I remember someone preparing the "fur-babies" for the new baby, by getting a doll and playing with it, pretending to put it to sleep, carrying it around, etc. so that the dogs were used to "mom" with a new something that they had to be careful with.
Might be worth a try?
eeek to the hornets!
hooray to 8 days and a carseat and a quilt to come...
so seriously excited for you guys!
