Xi'an - Day 4 - Tough, but Amazing...We Have Our Girl!

I won't bore you with all the details now, since I know what everyone is looking for - PICTURES!  But suffice to say, Lia was NOT thrilled to meet us (particularly me!) at the Civil Affairs office today. She only let Steve hold her at first for the most part. We had a tough couple of first hours, but once we got back to the hotel room, turned on the Ni Hao Kai-Lan DVD, and fed each other some snacks, we slowly started to win her over...she wore herself out and is now crashed out in her crib with her little bare feet sticking out thru the crib bars.  :)

Now what you've all been waiting for...

Our Adoption Group, leaving the hotel to go get the babies!

Our girl - not a happy camper at first...

Wanting her nanny to come back...rough!

First family photo...still not sure about us...

Back at the hotel, starting to warm up...

Feeding mama a snack!

Finally - relaxing!

Letting mama give her a kiss...

A fresh diaper, in her jammies and ready for bed!

Oh Julie...she's just darling. (And yep, crying in Florida looking at these pics). It does make your heart break for them when they are so scared...but it will get easier. And YOU look like a natural. :) Hugs from the Shortcake and me!

Happy Gotcha Day! How wonderful to see you guys with your girl at last! Don't worry...give her a day or two and she'll not want anybody else but her mommy. Play lots of eye contact games. It took Alina a couple of days before she would even look me in the eye. I would pick up crayons, put them to my nose so she would have to look me in the face if she wanted it. Giving her food whenever she wants it is good too. It's all about trusting you. You'll be fine. I AM SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU, STEVE, AND LIA!!! Doing the happy dance here in Memphis!

Much love,
Kim and Alina

Glad you've got her in your arms. Hang in there...from the looks of things she is already slowly starting to let her guard down. I just want to squeeze her!!!
