This week we spent a lot of time at medical visits. On Tuesday, we took Lia to get her blood drawn for all the typical tests they run on newly adopted children from other countries. On Wednesday, a nursing student with the county cleft team came to our house to do a height and weight check-up, and also do some testing with Lia in regards to her overall developmental skills (she has gained one pound and grown one inch in the last two weeks!) On Thursday, we saw Lia's ENT (who is also a plastic surgeon). He will be doing her palate surgery (and is awesome!); and finally on Friday, we visited the pediatric dentist. What a whirlwind. Oh yeah, and I also started back to work this week part-time in the afternoons...WHEW!

As of right now, it looks like Lia is ready to have her palate repaired, and it could happen as soon as the third or fourth week in October...which is sooner than we expected...but also good timing because it will give her some time to heal before her birthday and the holidays, and should also get her started catching up on her hearing and speech (which are currently delayed due to the cleft).

hi julie. my name is page lewis and i will be making lia's lifebook from china. i live in virginia and have adopted ten special needs kids from the u.s. love to scrapbook and i work fairly fast. will have the photos wednesday. wondered if you had any photos you would like to add starting from the time you picked lia up. i will include anything you'd like. these books are a very moving account of their life at starfish but i also like to include something about your wish for a child and the waiting period. footprints, handprints, etc. this book is a gift to your family and comes by way of donation. amanda receives one also. please get in touch with me. hope lia is doing well. with your permission i will use some photos from your blog. obviously she is adored. what a lucky little girl! thanks, page. lisapagelewis@msn.com
Lia has the most beautiful eyes, and her dimples--just make her a killer! she looks perfect to me--but... if she does need plastic surgery, wish a smooth one & a quck recovery--sending you all the best wishes and blessings.
Wow, you guys have been busy, but seems to be all green lights and good news. Lia looks so very happy! She's happy to be home!! Hugs to you all.
